The Institute for Free Speech is pleased to announce new promotions and staffing changes that will better assist the organization as we continue to expand our focus on federal and state policy efforts and public engagement.
Peter Russo will now serve as the Institute’s Director of Government Relations. Hired in January of 2024, Peter served as the Institute’s Director of External Relations for two years, acting as the Institute’s main liaison to regulators, allied organizations, and legislators. His new role expands on the organization’s commitment to strengthening relationships with lawmakers in the states and in Washington, and serving as a resource to lawmakers and to relevant agencies that impact political speech and campaign finance policy.
Formerly the Deputy Director of Communications, Tiffany Donnelly has been promoted to Director of External Relations and Counsel. In this role, she will direct the Institute’s external engagement strategy, strengthen relationships with coalition partners, thought leaders, and activists across the free-speech movement, and expand the Institute’s network of clients and allies. As Counsel, she will play a key role in case development by identifying emerging legal and policy issues and cultivating strategic litigation opportunities that advance the Institute’s mission. She will continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Media Update, the Institute’s free e-mail newsletter providing curated coverage of political speech and campaign finance developments.
Finally, Sarah Fisher has been promoted from the Associate Director of Communications to the Deputy Director of Communications. Her new role will include additional responsibilities such as social media management, creation of printed and digital communications, and media outreach.
Please join us in congratulating Peter, Tiffany, and Sarah on their new roles.
