Financial Disclosure and Annual Reports

The Institute for Free Speech is proud to have earned a strong reputation for financial responsibility and careful stewardship of the resources entrusted to us by our generous donors.  

 Since 2015, Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator, has recognized this commitment to excellence by awarding the Institute its coveted 4-star rating, its highest rating, every year for financial management, accountability, and transparency. In 2026, we also earned a perfect 100% score. 

We also earned Candid’s 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency. Fewer than 1% of U.S. nonprofits earn this Seal, Candid’s highest, which demonstrates a high level of transparency and accountability beyond basic IRS filings. 

Below are links to copies of recent annual reports, audited financial statements, and IRS Form 990s. In 2017, the Institute for Free Speech changed its name from the Center for Competitive Politics. All Form 990s filed before tax year 2017 were filed under that name.
