CCP Director of External Relations, Matt Nese, submitted comments to members of Nebraska’sGovernment, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee on Legislative Bill 79, which repeals the now unconstitutional Campaign Finance Limitation Act, but troublesomely lowers reporting thresholds for campaign contributions and expenditures from the existing threshold of $250 to $100. The Committee is expected to vote on the bill in the next week.
CCP recommends that the Committee amend the legislation by raising the reporting threshold from its existing level of $250 and indexing it for inflation, in order to recognize only those significant contributors to a campaign or cause.
